John Frischer and the Squares: News

What A Night! - March 10, 2008

Well,
It is Jake again. It has been a long day behind the computer shooting emails back and forth as well as working on upgrading everything. But, John and I managed to get out and have an interesting experience tonight. We decided to head down to Todd Sarvies Cicero's Open Mic Night. But, to our suprise it has been canceled due to Todd being out of town. Needless to say there was a metal show happening. So we decided to take a stroll a round the Delmar Loop. To make a long story short we ran into many homeless people begging for change. A man without a leg, and a ticket scalper who tried to sell us a pair of Drop Kick Murphy tickets for tonights show at the pageant. Luckily enough John and I were able to outwit the many money beggars by telling them we were actually going to ask them for money. May i say it worked like a charm. Posted some flyers for our upcoming Cicero's show. We hope to see you all out there. It is going to me a night you do not want to miss!
Keep the music alive,
Jake

Great Show last night! - January 9, 2008

Hey all! The show turned out great last night! Big thanks to everyone who made it. The music was good, the room had a lot of good people in it, and overall I think everyone had an awesome time.

I was really happy just to be a part of it last night. I'll keep making the music if you keep having a good time. I was glad to see that so many old and new friends were enjoying the night as well. You Rock!

John

Updating EVERYTHING. - December 26, 2007

Hey all, John here. I wanted to say that I'm trying to update everything over winter break, since its been a long time since we've put up new stuff. This includes this site, myspace, and facebook.

Two main reasons: 1. You deserve new music and news of what were doing, because in fact we are trying to do a little something everyday to contribute to our music career.
2. Until lately, I've been personally struggling to get things together regarding the band. To be honest, there has been more struggles going on behind the scenes then you ever may know.
In a way, were updating our style. I hope you believe me when I say that making it with this music is my #1 goal, and I'm at work every day for it.

One year Anniversary! - August 17, 2007

Today is the one year anniversary of “Life as a Square” My beloved CD was released this day 1 year ago.

As an artist, I look back on the year in reflection. I’ve seen disappointments, frustration, impatience, and unbelievable growth. I’ve laughed, cried, and felt everything in between. Sometimes, I feel like things are moving so slow, and there is NO POSSIBLE WAY I CAN FIND SUCCESS IN MY GOALS.

But now, especially at a time like this, I can see all I’ve learned, how incredibly far I’ve come, and how hard I’ve fought for it all. Seeing that progress fills me with the CONFIDENCE TO REMEMBER HOW FAR I CAN GO.

Here’s to the past, the present and the future. Its gonna be one hell of a ride.

IN and OUT of Town! - August 6, 2007

Its August 6th, and music is better than ever.

Chad (bass) and Randy (guitar) have been out of town for the past week, leaving me, RJ (drums) and Mike (bass) all by ourselves. I've been getting together with RJ and Mike, formerly of Solquest, for some jamming and practicing. Its been really fun! We've found some real chemistry between us, musically and as friends. We've played two shows together as a trio, and rocked the roof off! Look for this power trio to be playing a lot more this next year!

RJ just went out of town on a small tour with a very talented artist known as Zack Weber. They should be on the road for the next couple of weeks. It's too bad that RJ is gone, but Randy and Chad have come back. Good thing, or else I would be stranded without any of my band!

Last night Jacob and his brother Dan Albert attended the Drew Mantia performance at Cicero's. Larry Cowsert, president of 12 Bar records also came along with us. Together we did an impressive amount of mingling with the likes of John and Chris of Mancuso Productions. We talked about some future concerts that they are working on booking, and some seemed very interesting!

It was a great concert by Drew and the guys, and the crowd loved it.
